Karnataka Relaxes Class 1 Age Rule Amid Parent Protests

The Karnataka government has relaxed the minimum age requirement for Class 1 admissions by 60 days for the 2026–27 academic year. Children aged 5 years and 10 months can now enroll, following protests from parents. However, concerns remain as many parents argue the relaxation benefits only a limited group and forces others to repeat kindergarten.
